Where the wild things were
Monday, November 3, 2003
In and of itself, a “Girls Gone Wild” party promised to be a spicy affair. Add the fact that it fell on the night before Halloween, and there was no telling what was going to happen at GGW’s “Elegant Sin” bash Thursday night at a Bel-Air mansion decked out in Gothic-meets-glam luxury. There wasn’t any chest-baring – at least none of the officially sanctioned kind – but the spirit of the infamous video franchise was alive and well thatnks to a posse of leather-clad dancers writhing to music in a backyard tent. One costumed woman spent the night posing atop a piano, presumably because a proper candelabra was not available. Joe Francis, impresario of the GGW empire, insisted that he would be on his best behavior. “I think the girls are going to be exceptionally wild tonight,” he predicted at the outset. “But me, I’m an angel.” True to his word, Francis outfitted his white suit with a pair of angel wings. He excitedly discussed plans to open a Hooters-like chain of GGW restaurants in Florida before moving on to other states. He had plenty of fellow revelers, thanks to celbrity friends who showed up in their Halloween finest. They ranged from pixie Ashely Scott to a fang-quipped “American Idol” host Ryan Seacrest sticking with a safe classic – Dracula – to “Less Than Perfect” star Andy Dick decked out in a security guard uniform. Alas, there were no miscreants around for him to apprehend.
