Joe and I hit it off the very first time we met, and he remains a very good friend. Before we met, I knew Joe was a successful businessman, but as I got to know him, I learned the reason why he is so successful: He is incredibly intelligent and incredibly hard-working. But Joe is not just about business. He happens to be one of the funniest, warmest and most generous people I know, and he doesn’t rest until he knows that everyone around him is taken care of. People who meet Joe for the first time are usually surprised. First, they are surprised to discover how friendly Joe is, and how much he loves to laugh. They eventually discover how much he knows, and finally, how much he cares. It is impossible to meet Joe on a personal level without immediately wanting to count him as a friend, and I am proud to say, he is one of my closest. I believe in Joe and I will forever be his big brother and there for him.

What people overlook when they talk about Joe is the fact that he is a great businessman. He has built one of the best direct marketing companies in the world. Many have tried to knock his business off but none have succeeded. He did not inherit a business, he did not do a buyout of an existing brand, nor he did not get lucky in a tech bubble.
He built a cash machine from the ground up – by himself. Most businesses of the scale of GGW have some sort of defensible intellectual property – they own the rights to characters or brands. Creating a well known brand out of essentially generic content is one of the most difficult things in business to accomplish.
I read a lot of things Joe has supposedly done. I have long believed that you can only judge someone by your direct experience with them. There are a lot of haters in the world. Especially when you are a young, good looking, rich guy (that sometimes says too much!). In my experience Joe has been a Prince to both my family and me. That’s why I consider Joe one of my close friends.
